Claude Tag

Claude Tag is Anthropic's way for teams to work with Claude in Slack. Anthropic launched it on June 23, 2026, in beta for Claude Team and Enterprise plans. Tag @Claude in a thread with a task and a session starts in a sandbox your organization configures. It runs the same engine as Claude Code, so it can write code, open pull requests, and work with the tools an admin connects.

How it maps to Claude Code

Summarized from Anthropic's docs linked below. Anthropic says 65% of its product team's code now comes from its internal version. That is Anthropic's number, not an AItier measurement. Not an official Anthropic page.

FAQ

What is Claude Tag?
Anthropic's team agent in Slack, launched June 23, 2026 in beta for Claude Team and Enterprise. You tag @Claude in a thread with a task; it works in a sandbox with the tools and data an admin grants that channel, remembers channel context, and can follow up on its own.
How is Claude Tag different from Claude Code?
Same engine, different home. Claude Code runs on your machine with your settings and credentials. Claude Tag runs each Slack thread as its own sandboxed session: repository CLAUDE.md and skills load after a clone, but your local ~/.claude, settings.json, environment, and MCP servers do not. Admins provide channel connections, model defaults, and environment setup instead.
Who can use Claude Tag?
At launch, Claude Team and Enterprise plans in Slack, in beta. Anthropic's product page says Microsoft Teams is coming soon. Check Anthropic's Help Center for current availability.
Is this official Anthropic?
No. AItier is a personal AI tier list product. This page is not an official Anthropic page or ranking. To rank assistant products, use the AI assistants board.

Introducing Claude Tag, a new way for teams to work with Claude.

In Slack, Claude joins as a team member with access to the channels and tools you choose. Tag Claude in and delegate tasks to it while you focus on other work.

Claude Tag is a paradigm shift in how we ship products at Anthropic. Our internal version merges 65% of product PRs and this is our first product that is natively multi-player and proactive.

We're excited for you to try this out. Let us know your feedback!

Claude is really proactive with Claude Tag. You don’t need to prompt it to do work, it can do work proactively based on your instructions. It has excellent memory and access to your data, so it can behave differently per channel

We're launching Claude Tag today. Tag Claude into Slack and it works in channel with you. It’s proactive, multiplayer, with its own identity and memory.

But it’s not just a bot in Slack. Over the last few months, it’s totally changed how we use Claude

This is the start of Claude Everywhere. It’s Claude Code under the hood so it’s just as good at writing code. 65% of our product team’s new code is created by our internal version of Claude Tag

— Boris Cherny (@bcherny) @bcherny · June 23, 2026

Claude Tag is an evolution of Claude Code, made more proactive and built to work with a full team. It’s now one of the main ways we get things done at Anthropic: 65% of our product team's code now comes from our internal version.

Claude Fable 5 is now available in Claude Tag.

In use

A weird experiment I've been trying the last few weeks is having Claude take over day-to-day maintenance of our apps. Seeing early signs of life that this might be possible.

The setup is straightforward: we have a Slack channel called proj-claude-maintains-apps. In it, Claude

Fable 5.1 makes Claude Tag even more useful. Here it builds a last-minute leadership deck from a metrics spreadsheet and other data across Slack, spots a vendor report that disagrees with the numbers, and flags it before moving on.
